Limit Theorems for Some Branching Measure-valued Processes

چکیده

We consider a particle system in continuous time, discrete population, with spatial motion and nonlocal branching. The offspring’s weights and their number may depend on the mother’s weight. Our setting captures, for instance, the processes indexed by a Galton-Watson tree. Using a size-biased auxiliary process for the empirical measure, we determine this asymptotic behaviour. We also obtain a large population approximation as weak solution of a growth-fragmentation equation. Several examples illustrate our results. CONTENTS

Stochastic Flows Associated to Coalescent Processes Iii: Limit Theorems

We prove several limit theorems that relate coalescent processes to continuous-state branching processes. Some of these theorems are stated in terms of the so-called generalized Fleming-Viot processes, which describe the evolution of a population with fixed size, and are duals to the coalescents with multiple collisions studied by Pitman and others. We first discuss asymptotics when the initial...

Superprocesses with Coalescing Brownian Spatial Motion as Large-Scale Limits

Large scale limits of interacting particle systems and measure-valued processes have been studied by many authors; see, e.g., Bojdecki and Gorostiza (1986), Cox et al. (2000), Dawson (1977), Dawson and Fleischmann (1988), Durrett and Perkins (1999), Hara and Slade (2000a,b). In particular, Dawson and Fleischmann (1988) investigated the scaling limit of a class of critical space-time branching m...

Limit theorems for Smoluchowski dynamics associated with critical continuous-state branching processes

We investigate the well-posedness and asymptotic self-similarity of solutions to a generalized Smoluchowski coagulation equation recently introduced by Bertoin and Le Gall in the context of continuousstate branching theory. In particular, this equation governs the evolution of the Lévy measure of a critical continuous-state branching process which becomes extinct (i.e., is absorbed at zero) alm...

We obtain limit theorems for the row extrema of a triangular array of zero-modified geometric random variables. Some of this is used to obtain limit theorems for the maximum family size within a generation of a simple branching process with varying geometric offspring laws.
